The History of Ashford Spartans (founded 1968)

Ashford Spartans Football Club was founded in 1968, albeit under a different name - Chemidus S.S.C.

In 1971/72 Chemidus S.S.C achieved promotion after being crowned Division 2 Champions. That was to be the only trophy that the club would win as Chemidus.

In 1973 the Company amalgamated with Wavin Plastics and the club changed its name to Wavin FC. It wasn't until 1978/79 that the team proudly won the Eric Hatcher Memorial Trophy, its first and only trophy as Wavin FC.

In 1984 Wavin Plastics moved location and closed down their Ashford based factory. The club decided to amalgamate with a local team by the name of Ashford Spartans who at the time were looking to pull out of the Ashford & District Sunday League. In the same year, the newly formed team also decided to enter the Ashford & District 5-A-Side Football League.
